child care and development in Stockbridge, Georgia
Dear Parents and Guardian(s),

Today, we mourn the loss of children and teachers of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. When a school tragedy like this occurs, it's natural to think about your child's safety. Please be assured that our staff and management are doing everything in our power to keep our school the safest place it can be for all students, and so are the rest of schools in the United States of America.
As a result of this tragedy, your child may react in various ways and ask many questions. Please be prepared to listen to your children if they need to talk. Answer any questions they have simply, honestly and possibly over and over again. Reassure them that school is a safe place as well as try to maintain all daily routines.

Please keep the families in Newtown, Connecticut in your thoughts and again please know that the safety of all of our students is our number one priority. I wish you all a safe holiday season.

Sincerely,
Teresa Hill

Parent Involvement
                         By Mrs. Tamika Akins

Parents have a role that is more vital than many of them realize. Children speak of their parents as if they are heroes when they present stories, activities, or previous conversations shared with their parents. During the early years of childhood children view the priceless things in life to be more valuable. Those parent/child activities, class parties, and entertaining field trips are the moments most cherished during early childhood. Educators assist parents and children to establish a foundation for a successful generation to come. Working together provides a path for the youth of today to succeed. Teamwork sets a positive environment for your child's development. Become a part of a popular team by joining in with your child's education. The recent gingerbread house parent/child activity here at

Barrington Academy was a great success. These activities are constructed by your child's teacher or other staff member to formulate a connection between the home and school environment. Grandparent's Day allow the staff to meet and interact with the individuals that can put a smile on your child's face at any time. Then there was the Costume Parade, which gave the children a chance to be creative and have fun with others. Let's not forget about the Family Feast each class had the chance to enjoy. Many of you got to meet your child's classmates (you've heard so much about) and their family members. We are proud to be a part of your child's education and our goal is to have a strong connection between home and school.

Safe Toys and Gifts Month

During the holiday season, you'll probably be shopping for toys and gifts. Think about safety. In 2007 alone, toymakers recalled over 19 million toys worldwide because of safety concerns such as lead paint and small magnets. To prevent injuries, choose toys that are safe for the age of the child so everyone can enjoy a happy holiday.
