Child development newsletterDirector’s Corner
Fall is a very exciting time of the year. A season of many changes from cooler temperatures to leaves changing colors. As the temperature gets cooler please make sure your child has a change of clothes appropriate for the weather. Also, send a jacket for outside time. Please label all items with student’s name.

Scholastic Book Fair and Grandparent’s Day was a great success
as many Grandparents came out and participated in spending time in the classroom doing an activity, enjoying breakfast with their grandchild, purchasing books from the book fair to even having their pictures made together. The students really enjoyed their Grandparents coming to spend time with them at school. You can see pictures of all the fun we had on face book.

October 9-12 Pre-k classes will attend a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Check with your child’s teacher for details. The students will go on a hayride, get to see what a farm is, learn interesting facts in the science center, see snakes, iguanas and even enjoy a petting zoo.

Over the Counter Medications
We are not allowed to give children of any age over the counter medications; this includes Tylenol, Motrin, Nose and Eye Drops. If your child is on any prescribed medication, the medication must be in the ORIGINAL prescribed container and your child’s name must be on the container. A medication release form must be filled out for the director’s to be allowed to administer medications. Please ensure that all sections of the form are filled out completely. This is especially important for this time of year when several children may have breathing machines. Please make sure your child’s breathing machine is labeled with their name.

Themes for October:
The students will learn all about the season of fall. We will add different topics each week. They will learn about leaves and trees, pumpkins and scarecrows, and bats/spiders.

Themes for November:
Come November all classroom will convert to Pilgrims and Indians look and theme. We will learn stories about Pilgrims and cook like Indians. Science experiments would be fun with leaves and acorns and then learn more about The Mayflower. Arts and crafts and experiments will be related to the theme along with various activities.
